FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS About Lamb Orders

What is the advantage of buying a half or whole lamb?
One of the advantages of purchasing a whole or half sheep is that you can have all the cuts exactly the way that suits your family’s menu and needs. You can have the lamb chops cut the thickness you desire, order lamb chops with or without ribs, have ground lamb made from cuts you do not want, etc. The butcher will tell you what cuts come off a half /whole sheep and help you with the decision process.
Where do I pick up my order if I buy a half or whole lamb?
We take our sheep to Winchester Meat Locker in Winchester, Kansas, or to Holton Meat Processing for butchering. You will pick up your meat from the butcher after it is cut, shrink-wrapped, and frozen.
What is the butcher fee?

Rule of thumb for freezer space: 35 lbs. of meat requires 1 cubic feet of freezer space, which is about the size of a milk crate.
